01
Business history
GE American Communications, known as GE Americom, operated a fleet of communications satellites distributing television, radio and data services for broadcasters and businesses.
GE sold GE Americom to SES Global on November 9, 2001, receiving cash and an equity interest in SES Global; it was not a cash-only exit. The satellite business continued within SES, separate from GE’s later broadcasting history.
