Business history
GE Equipment Services included trailer rental, leasing and fleet services. GE’s 2004 announcement identifies Transport International Pool as a wholly owned affiliate and explains its North American transition from TIP to the GE Trailer Fleet Services name.
TIP’s own history dates its entry into GE Capital to 1993. HNA completed acquisition of the European TIP Trailer Services Group on October 23, 2013. This was not a single sale of all GE Equipment Services or its North American trailer operations.
Related GE Capital container leasing followed a different path: GE SeaCo was formed in 1998 as a 50/50 joint venture with Sea Containers. HNA and Bravia completed the GE SeaCo transaction in December 2011, separately from the later European TIP sale.
