01

Business history

GE Capital included insurance and reinsurance activities as well as lending and leasing. Those businesses followed different sale and runoff paths.

The 2015 plan to sell most GE Capital assets was not a sale of all insurance obligations. Legacy insurance exposures remained and must be distinguished from independent Synchrony and divested leasing operations.
